Singer/Songwriter Tara Harrison was born and raised in New York to Jamaican parentage. Naturally gifted, and a true free spirit, Tara’s mother found her belting out Whitney Houston’s “The Greatest Love of All” to a crowd of Macy’s shoppers at just 3 years old. This prompted her parents to foster their daughter’s musical talent through piano and clarinet lessons, church and school choirs, dance classes, school plays, and local talent shows both in Kingston and NYC.
Harrison welcomed standing ovations upon entering NYC’s fiercely competitive open-mic circuit at the tender age of 13, and signed a production deal shortly after her 14th birthday. She performed for a series of top-level executives including LA Reid and Dave McPherson, by the time she turned 16.
Tara takes her creative responsibility very seriously boasting a work ethic filled with passion for the art of recording and performance. A multi-faceted ear in songwriting subsequently lead her to work with acclaimed producers Deputy, J. Cole, Danny Plante, Ill Factor, Don Corleon, Irv Gotti, Steve Mostyn, Nathan Duvall and many more. On stage, she exudes a soulful yet rebellious prowess, mirroring her buoyant personality. Harrison has opened for Cee Lo Green and reggae legacy Damien “Jr. Gong” Marley, and has been a background vocalist in support of Hip-Hop legend, Ms. Lauryn Hill, since 2012.
Like a prism, bright and reflecting the light and luminous colors of the rainbow, this NY Rudegal is shining around the world while steadily locking her position as an eminent artist.
